Our experienced guides provide comprehensive instruction and support, ensuring that even first-time sledders can relish in the exhilarating joy of leading their own team of huskies through the stunning winter landscapes.
However, it is essential to review our notes and restrictions before booking your adventure. Certain health conditions and physical limitations might make participation in the tour unsuitable.
Notes & Restrictions
Please be aware of the following requirements for this tour:
- Participants must be in good physical condition to fully enjoy and safely engage in the dog sledding experience.
- To drive a sled independently, guests must be at least 15 years old.
- A minimum age of 6 years is required for passengers accompanying the sled drivers.
Please be advised that for the safety and well-being of our guests, the Riverland Huskies tour may not be appropriate for individuals with certain health conditions or physical limitations. The tour is not recommended for:
- Pregnant women
- Individuals experiencing back issues
- Persons with mobility implants
- Those with heart conditions
- Participants weighing over 260 lbs (118 kg)
Practical information
Upon arrival at Riverland Husky, you will be greeted by our knowledgeable tour guides who are eager to make your experience unforgettable. They will escort you to your designated changing area and assist you in preparing for the expedition.
Our team will provide comprehensive instruction on operating the sled safely, stopping, and communicating with the huskies. Each sled accommodates two passengers - one seated and one driving - pulled by a team of 4-6 spirited dogs.
Everyone will get an opportunity to ride the sled through Reisafjord's amazing natural landscape.
During the tour, we will pause at our cozy cabin to indulge in delicious traditional Norwegian cuisine and steaming hot beverages by the campfire. Vegetarian options are also available. The camp features a heated cabin and an outdoor toilet for your convenience.
You'll have a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and ample time to ask questions, interact with the huskies, and create lasting memories.
As your expedition comes to an end, you will return to Riverland Husky basecamp with a newfound appreciation for the Arctic's natural beauty and the extraordinary capabilities of our husky companions. The memories and friendships forged during this experience will stay with you long after the snow has melted.
Dog sledging in Norway – What to wear?
The weather can get cold in the autumn, so remember to bring warm clothes – even though it is not wintertime yet!
We recommend bringing:
